This October I am honored and delighted to host Unha Hill at Art On Clay - a rare opportunity to learn directly from a celebrated Korean ceramicist during a series of immersive workshops.

4-Day Throwing Workshop with Unha Hill

October 2–5, 2025 • 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM daily
Limited to 6 participants • $430

Join Unha Hill for an immersive, small-group workshop focused on the art of wheel-thrown pottery. Over four mornings, participants will explore a new form each day—including lidded jars, moon jars, large bowls, and refined trimming techniques.

This workshop is ideal for intermediate to advanced potters who want to deepen their practice through guided form development, surface refinement, and one-on-one feedback from a master teacher. With only 6 students, you’ll receive individualized instruction and the rare opportunity to study Uncas’s techniques in an intimate setting.

  • Sunday: Trimming & Finishing

Tuition includes: Unlimited clay, use of studio wheels, glazing and firing.

These focused afternoon workshops are perfect for potters looking to refine specific skills or try something new in a short format. Each session offers a chance to work closely with Unha Hill on a targeted form or technique. Take one—or take them all.

Thursday, Oct 2 – Throwing Off the Hump
1:00–3:00 PM • $100 • 6 spots
Learn how to maximize efficiency and control by throwing multiple small forms from a single centered mass of clay. Ideal for production-minded or precision-focused potters. Use your own clay.

Friday, Oct 3 – Mugs
1:00–3:00 PM • $100 • 6 spots
Explore the anatomy of a great mug—form, handle design, balance, and visual flow. This hands-on session will cover key techniques and personal feedback. Use your own Clay.

Saturday & Sunday, Oct 4–5 – Slip Carving & Surface Decoration
1:00–4:00 PM (2-day session) • $200 • 15 spots
Delve into Korean surface traditions with a two-day decorative intensive. Learn slip application, sgraffito, brushwork, and subtle layering to bring narrative and texture to your work. A clay vessel is provided for you hand made by Unha Hill.

Evening Workshop: Double-Wall Vessel

Thursday & Friday, Oct 2–3 • 6:00–9:00 PM
$200 • 6 spots

In this advanced-level workshop, you’ll learn how to construct and refine a double-wall vessel—an elegant, technical form that enhances both visual impact and structural integrity. Through live demonstration and personal guidance, Unha will share how to manage wall thickness, clean joins, and achieve dynamic inner/outer forms. Use your own clay
